Encoded Archival Description (EAD) Task Force

Charge of the Task Force

The Task Force's initial charge was as follows:

Develop specification/template for EAD documents that may be contributed to OhioLINK.
Follow progress of DLXS (the EAD software) enhancement requests
Customize software toolkit for multi-institutional environment (e.g., in the context of EAD metadata and content, customize search options, and institutional branding)
Generate some marketing/training ideas
Educate members of the DMS committee on progress and findings

Current projects and initiatives include the following:

Continue to develop and enhance the OhioLINK EAD Finding Aid Creation Tool
Continue to develop and upgrade the OhioLINK Finding Aid Repository
Create training opportunities and tools (in-person and online)
Publicize and promote the OhioLINK EAD FACTORy project

The Task Force will conduct most of its business in 2009 via email and phone. A semi-annual in-person meeting took place on June 18, 2009 at Ohio University.
