RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SUBFIELD |v
1. OhioLINK member libraries should follow Library of Congress procedures and OCLC guidelines and begin coding for form and genre access using the subject subdivision |v in the 6xx fields where it
applies.
2. All OhioLINK member libraries should treat |v in exactly the same manner that we treat |x, |y, and |z in the 6xx fields.
|v should:
. Load into our systems as records arrive from outside
. Be indexed for subject and for keyword
. Display in our OPACs
. Be searchable
. Be included in records exported from our systems
3. Any records purchased for group use should contain current coding for subfield |v.
4. We do not recommend that OhioLINK member libraries attempt any retrospective conversion of form and genre material stored in |x of
our 6xx fields at this time, although this may become an issue in the future.
